LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- This weekend kicks off the
boating season for many. Hundreds of boaters will head out on the Ohio
River Saturday to watch the fireworks display. As for every year, safety is a top concern. "The water's up, it's moving fast and it's cold," said Sgt. Lawrence Glaser with the Louisville Metro Police River Patrol. Louisville police will be among more than a dozen agencies patrolling the Ohio River tomorrow during the annual kickoff to the Kentucky Derby Festival. Kentucky law requires boaters to have one life vest on board for every passenger and all children under age 12 must wear the vests while on deck. Boats must also have a fire extinguisher, a bail and a life ring or other throwing device. http://www.thunderoverlouisville.org/ Have fun out there and BoatXchange.com wishes you safe boating! |
